OTTAWA: Canada’s first woman Prime Minister announced her first Cabinet. Quebecans got the two important ministeries , Jean Clarets appointed as the deputy Prime Minister and Gilles Loisella as the minister of finance. Ontario’s Perrim Beaty, former communications minister, Sworn in as minister of external affairs. Two other ministers from Ontario are Doug Lewis (Public Security) and Tom Hockin (International Trade), seven ministers including Campbell, come from the four western provinces among them are Alberta’s Jim Edwarads, B.C.’s Tom Siddon and Mary Collins.
Campbell reduced Mulroy’s 35 member Cabinet to 25 which is lowest number Cabinet in 30 years and disbanding nine government departments. By doing these reductions, savings will amount between 4 to 6 billion over the next four years.
