NEW DELHI: Many Sikh organizations have urged the people not to vote for the Congress (I) because of the “totally undemocratic and anti-minority particularly anti-Sikh attitude” of the party.
These organizations at a meeting here on Wednesday decided to extend their support to the Janata Dal and the Samajwadi Janata Party “in view of the sympathetic and positive and secular role” played by these parties. In the constituencies where candidates of both the parties are contesting the preference should be given to the candidate who has a “clean image and has greater mass appeal” according to a press release issued by Lt Gen J.S.Aurd (retd) Coordinator Governing Council Sikh Forum. Those who issued the appeal besides Gen Aurora are Mr Justice R.S.Narula member Governing Council Sikh Forum Dr Jaspal Singh General Secretary Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee Jathedar Inderpal Singh Khalsa senior vice-president Delhi SGMC Jathedar Harcharan Singh Dilli Delhi Sikh Front Mr Darshan Singh Bhatia President All India Sikh Conference Mr Dalip Singh President Delhi Singh Sabha Confederation Mr Harbhajan Singh Nishkam Sikh Welfare Council Mr Dalbir Singh Gurmat Missionary College Mr Harbhajan Singh President Bir Khalsa Dal and Jathedar Onkar Singh Thapar Shiromani Akali Dal (Longowal).
