AMRITSAR, Punjab, India: The government has yielded to pressure exerted by 22 Panchayats and paid one lakh rupees as compensation for the killing of an innocent by the Central Reserve Police Force and promised to give 4 police job to the brother of the deceased person. The check for ‘one lakh rupees was presented to the father of the deceased, Santokh Singh Pehlwan, by the Governor SS. Ray. Santokh Singh Pehlwan who was a professional wrestler but now handicapped, told newsmen that his son Baldev Singh was returning home at around 8:30 p.m. on September 22. At the outskirts of the village Bahadur Nagar he was stopped by the C.R.P.F, for questioning. Minutes later, he said, “My son was shot dead. He had nothing to do with any political or violent movement”, he added.
