Chandigarh: Principal Tarlochan Singh Sidhu a member of working committee of Akali Dal (Baba) in a statement here condemned Punjab chief minister Beant Singh’s recent call to militants to lay down arms on the Baisakhi Day April 13.

Sidhu said the tenth master on the historic day had created the armed Khalsa to fight against oppression while that very Khalsa was at present engaged in a struggle against Indian government’s excesses. There was no question of any member of Guru Gobind Singh’s Khalsa laying down arms.

Sidhu also took those Akali leaders to task who had been pleading for the release of Akali leaders from jails when the Sikh panth did not even recognize the Beant Singh panth for the release Of Akali leader was meaningless.

Principal Sidhu presided over a meeting of several workers engaged in holding enquiries into Police excesses in Kharar subdivision of Rapar district.
