NEW DELHI, India: The Home Minister, Mr. Buta Singh has warned the Gurkhaland Liberation Front that the violence has no place in the democratic set up and at the same time he urged the state government to initiate dialogue with Gurkhaland agitationists to remove any discontent. He was making a statement in reply to a calling attention notice in Lok Sabha on the Gorkha agitation, later replying to a point raised during a discussion, the Home Minister clearly put the responsibility of law and order on the leftist government. The Home Minister condemned the confrontation attitude of Gurkha land Liberation Front and C.P.M. CP.M leader had moved a motion and his other party colleague. Mr. Chaudhry questioned Home Minister’s statement and said how you can equate the both. They are attacking and we are defending. The discussion was marked by the sarcastic remarks between the C.P.M. and Congress (I) members. ‘The Congress (I) M.P. Mr. Bannerji several times challenged Mr. Chaudhry and CPM members, Mr. Chaudhry maintained that the movement was antinational and it ‘was aimed at dividing the people so that GLLF can have their so called their homeland. They warned the Centre not to see the Gurkha agitation as an isolated regional conflict. You have already made this mistake in Punjab, Don’t commit it again. The C,P.M, members said that the publication of objectionable poster sacking the Gurkha soldiers to quit and a letter to the King of Nepal and the United Nations was pointers to much bigger dimension.
