NEW DELHI, India: Union Home Minister, Buta Singh Said that those leaders in Punjab who were eulogizing the activities of the Sikh freedom fighters and glorifying them are nation’s enemies and should be treated as such. Launching a direct tirade against Badal and Tohra, the tirade against Badal and Tohra, he said that the postures adopted by Badal and Tohra sections of the Sikh leadership were encouraging violence. Mr, Buta Singh said that the support to freedom fighters at this crucial stage in Punjab is like playing with fire. Consequences of which would be against both the state and the country. Buta Singh said that government will neither talk with freedom fighters nor with those political leaders in the state who were supporting them. Mr. Buta Singh was replying to a four hour debate in the Lok Sabha on the situation in Punjab, Several members have demanded resolute action by the State government and the Centre in containing violence, Mr. Buta Singh acknowledged that the government of Mr. Barnala Was handling a difficult situation with great determination and courage, But leaders like Badal and Tohra were adding to its problems by adopting public postures in support of the freedom fighters. The Home Minister said that either their stand stems from madness or it is mere treason. In any case they are acting like enemies of the country by glorifying the freedom fighters and placing the halo of Martyrdom on their heads.
