NURMEHAL: The Bahujan Samaj Party president, Mr Kanshi Ram and other party leaders on Sunday threatened to launch a countrywide agitation in case the government failed to check the attacks on the BSP workers and punish those responsive for pre poll Numeral killings.

Nine BSP workers were killed at Nurmetial near Nakodar, while canvassing for Mr Om Parkash Sidham, party candidate from Nurmehal (Reserve) assembly segment.

Mr Kanshi Ram said that the campaigners were not dead for not succumbing to pressures because they had decided two exercises and Its franchise in free and fair way.

Earlier the Dalit Samaj used to sell its votes or did not care if its votes were “looted or rigged” by certain political parties dominated by high castes. But not the Dalit Samaj had adopted correct line and were exercising their franchise as per their “conscience”, Mr Danshi Ram emphasized.

The new line adopted by the Dalit Samaj said Mr Kanshi Rar, had battled the parties which had been using the Dalit’s as their reserve vote banks and thus ruling the country. The Congress (I) had realized that it was not possible for them to come to power in the wake of rising power of the Bahujan Samaj Party. That was why the BSPs workers were shot dead to terrorize them to ensure they did not come forward to vote on February 19.

Mr Kanshi Ram addressing a rally here organized by the BSP to pay homage to the nine BSP poll campaigners killed in a shootout font February 16 last. Mr Kanshi Ram aid that if the government failed to grant justice through the ballot boxes the BSP. Would have to adopt some other means to seek their grievances redressed those who have adopted bullets should not think that the BSP did not know the use of bullets The BSP has, however, its faith in peaceful methods to seek Justice.

Mr Om Prakash Sidham defeated candidate from Nurmehal Assembly segment said the campaigners included his son, two nephews and one cousin also.

Mr Kanshi Ram presented a siropa and Rs. 10,000 to the relatives of those killed and Rs. 5,000 each other injured.

Mr Om Prakash Sidam condemned the Punjab government for shielding the killers. He said the under public pressure Mr Inderjit Singh Yadav Congress block president. Nurinchal was taken into custody but he was released later on.
