CHANDIGARH: Mr. Shiv Raj Singh Brar, a follower of the former chief minister and UAD lea der Mr. Parkash Singh Badal on Friday condemned the appointment of Mr. Jagdev Singh Talwandi as president of the party.
In a statement here, Mr. Brar said the appointment was unconstitutional. Moreover, Mr. Talwandi had no standing compared to the UAD president Mr. Simran jit Singh Mann.
He said only Mr. Badal and Mr, Mann could take Punjab out of the present situation. Mr. Talwandi was responsible for the fall of the Badal ministry in 1980.
Mr. Brar alleged that a “handful” of persons had created a rift in the UAD “with the backing of the Government.” He reaffirmed his faith in the leadership of Mr. Mann.
According to reports some of her supporters of Mr. Badal are also against the appointment of Talwandi.
