NEW DELHI: Confiscated exotic furs and skins worth over Rs 70 lakh were set on fire near the Delhi Zoo to create awareness about preservation of wildlife.
India’s minister of state for environment and forests Maneka Gandhi lit the “bonfire” of more than 950 fur skins 306 reptile skins and articles 56 leopard skins and articles and one tiger skin.
At the “bonfire” organised by a charity organisation “Beauty without Cruelty” in collaboration with the wildlife warden of Delhi and the central government five skins of the rare snow leopard were also set ablaze.
