BOMBAY (PTI): Barring Cine-Star Sanjay Dutt, several accused in the   March 12 serial bomb blasts, have retracted their confessional Statements recorded by police, according to the records of a special court trying the militants, after an accused, allegedly a co-con Separator of the Memon brothers, submitted a retraction application.

At least 40 accused including Samir Hingora charged with supplying Ak-56 rifles, ammunition and hand grenades to Sanjay Dutt and two landing agents of Tiger Memon, have retracted their confessional statements since November 1993 in applications addressed to TADA court either directly from jail or through their lawyers, it was learned from the count records.

Imtiyaz Yunusmia Ghavate, charged with aiding the Memon brothers in filling Research and Development Explosive (R.D.X) in various vehicles, today retracted his confessional statement in an Application submitted to the TADA –court here.

The accused that allegedly helped Tiger Abdul Razak Memon, Yakoob Abdul Razak Memon and other co-conspirators in fitting RDX in vehicles inside the garage of the Memon residence al Mahim in North West Bombay in the nocturnal hours between March 11-12, 1993, has submitted that the suffered bone fractures due to third degree methods employed by police to extract a confession. Hence, his confession could not be taken as voluntary.
