CHANDIGARH: The Akali Dal (Mann) president, Simranjit Singh Mann, on March 13, demanded resignation of the Prime Minister P.V.Narasimha Rao after the Bombay blast which had led to a heavy toil of human life and a temporary collapse of India’s commercial center,
Mann, who was talking to newsmen, said blaming external forces for such upheavals in India would not solve the problem. The Home Minister, S.B.Chavan, had first accused the Americans for the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi and had now called the Bombay blasts an international plot. It was just like a carpenter blaming his tools,
Asked who, according to him, was behind the Bombay outrage, the Akali leader said only a thorough investigation could expose the guilty. He, however, indicated what was in his mind when he said that his party had always cautioned the sectarian and Hindu funda mentalist forces against 4 communal approach to political matters.” Whoever was responsible for the explosions, must be punished and a “similar punishment be given to those who brought down the Babri Mosque at Ayodhya,” Mann said.
He said communalism would disrupt India and interference in the religious affairs of the minorities WS not in the interest of the lightly as India is Muslim countries.
