NEW DELHI(PTI): Memon family members are the prime suspects in the series of blasts which rocked Bombay on March 12, killing 235 people and injuring over one thousand.

In a suomoto statement in the Lok Sabha (Lower House) external affairs minister Dinesh Singh said “India’s request to the United Arab emirates for apprehending the suspects was made before their departure from the UAE.” They are now suspected to be hiding in Pakistan,

Dinesh Singh emphasized that the absence of any formal agreements with any other country regarding extradition was no impediment to international cooperation in regard to persons wanted for crime such as terrorism.”

Meanwhile, a report from Bombay said four consignments of explosives and arms are believed to have been smuggled into the country by the subversives as part of a plot to strike terror and create communal strife.
