NEW DELHI: A crude bomb on Sunday exploded outside the Parliament House but caused no injury or damage to property, police said.
The bomb made with “sulphide explosive” and packed in two small tins was wrapped in a brown shawl.
The blast, which made a loud bang, occurred near a tree, barely 25 meters from one of the main entrances to the Parliament House.
Deputy Commissioner of police (crime) Amod Kanth told PTI that the bomb did not have any timer and could have only exploded on impact.
“We are trying to ascertain if it was thrown or it exploded after falling down from the tree where it may have been kept wrapped in the shawl,” he said. The crime branch of Delhi police has been handed over the investigation.
