CHANDIGARH: A bomb blast blew up a portion of a rail track and damaged the wind screen of a goods train engine near Patiala district in the north Indian state of Punjab.
Elsewhere in the state, six militants were killed in separate encounters with security forces,
The bomb exploded on the track near the railway station of Daun Kalan. About a foot of the rail tack was damaged, while the wind screen of the goods train was shattered. However, no loss of life was reported.
Among the militants killed, four died following encounters with police in Ropar and Bhatinda district.
