DEBARGAON (ASSAM): The process of surrender by Bodo militants took place here on March 7 when 11 members of Bodo Volunteer Force (BVF) laid down all arms to the Union Minister of State for Home, Rajesh Pilot, in front of one lakh gathering.
The venue of rally organized by All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and Bodo People Action Committee (BPAG) to formally inaugurate the Bodo Autonomous Council of the remote village of Kokrajhar district of Assam which was also the headquarters of All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) and Bodo People Action Committee (BPAC). The autonomous council created under the provision of the Bodo record between Assam government and the ABSU on Feb.21, 1993. The jurisdiction: of the council includes about 2000 villages, 25 tea gardens situated in eight districts of lower and northern Assam.
Addressing the rally, the Union Minister of State for Home, Rajesh Pilot assured the Bodo people that the Center would extend all cooperation for Speedy implementation of the accord. “I have been authorized by the Prime Minister who gave this assurance,” Pilot, the architect of the accord said.
