NEW DELHI: The Babri Masjid Movement Coordination Committee last week warned the Narasimha Rao Government against transferring of the disputed Ram Janamabhoomi -Babri Masjid site to the Sangh parivar or to any other body for the construction of the proposed temple and appealed to all secular parties to staunchly oppose such a move.
The convener of the BMMCC, Syed Shahabuddin, said the Muslim community would not take Kindly to such a transfer and the “restraint and patience in the face Of the gravest provocation that it has so far shown should not be tested beyond limits.”
The BMMCC had taken serious note of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s ultimatum to the Center seeking transfer of the disputed Site to the Ram Janmabhoomi as for construction of proposed Ram temple by mid-October, Shahabuddin said.
The ultimatum includes the threat of “agitation by sadhus, sants and mahants” and the “forcible takeover of the site and resumption of kar seva, i.e. Construction,” be added.
The BMMCC fears the pressure exerted “may overwhelm” Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao’s “legal perception…And he may become a willing tool of the Sangh parivar and ignore the serious threat it has posed once again to the secular order.”
The religious front, the VHP, is planning to use sadhus sants and mahants as a shield in its war against the constitution, first by mobilizing them in Ayodhya, in the name of the Vishnu maha yagna and then using kar sevaks roused to religious frenzy to take over the Babni Masjid and commence construction sometime in November December,” he said. The entire game plan has been formulated with any eye on the coming elections to various state assemblies which the BJP, the political front of the Parivar, look upon as an Opportunity to redeem its lost political honor,” he added.
