CHANDIGARH: Babbar Khalsa International deputy chief Tarlok Singhalias Dilli, who was involved in the Tis Hazari bomb blast and two aborted bids on the life of the Surface Transport Minister Jagdish Tytler in May 1991, was killed in an encounter with police in Gurdaspur district on June 27.
Talking to newsmen at Amritsar, Punjab police chief KPS Gill said police on a tip off laid a naka near Shiv Shakti Mandir on the out skirts of Gurdaspur. An encounter took place in the early hours on Sunday when two militants challenged by the security forces opened fire. The body of Tarlok Singh, was recovered after the encounter.
Gurdaspur police chief S.K Goel, who was also present on the occasion, said Tarlok Singh was also involved in the killing of Agriculture Cost and Prices Commission chairman T.S, Tyagiat New Delhi.
He said Tarlok Singh kidnapped a nephew of Punjab chief secretary A.S.Chatha to get Madha Singh, a member of his outfit released, Two militants, one of them identified as Nahar Singh alias Manahra, a listed militant of Khalistan Liberation Force, were killed in an encounter .
