MOGA: Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was accused of creating the Punjab crisis and keeping it alive for political gains by thousands of angry workers of the Rasthrya Sywamsewak Sangh (R.S.S) who held a rally to mark the killings of 27 R.S.S. workers on June 24 (WSN June 30).
When Punjab Congress I Chief Beant Singh rose up on the dias to address the rally, thousands of RSS. and Bharitya Janata Party (BJP) workers in the conference were up on their feet and surjed up towards the dias, shouting allegations against the ruling party.
The pandemonium continued for about 10 minutes till the police came to the rescue of Beant Singh.
It was only after BJP president R.K. Adyani started speaking that calm was resorted. He then invited Beant Singh to speak, and this time there was no interruption.
