CHANDIGARH: Bimal Kaur Khalsa (40) former member of Indian Parliament and a prominent Sikh leader died of heart attack at her Mohali residence on Monday. She was the widow of Bhai Beant Singh who was shot dead by security forces on the day Mrs.Gandhi died in 1984 on allegations of involvement in the murder. She is survived by two sons and a daughter. Khalsa was a candidate from Ropar for the Lok Sabha poll. It has now been countermanded.

The body of Bimal Kaur Khalsa was cremated at her husband’s native village Maloya here.

Her eldest son Sarabjit Singh 12 lit the funeral pyre while Baba Thakkar Singh of the Damdami

Taksal performed ‘Antim Ardas’.
