AMRITSAR, India: Much Bimal Kaur Khalsa, wife of Beant Singh, the alleged assassin of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, has announced formation of new Istri Akali Dal with herself as its President. She told newsmen that other two Istri Akali Dals were not following the principles and programme of the party. She said her political aim would be to end the slavery of Sikhs as advocated by Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. The office bearers of her party are mainly from the families whose members were killed during the Blue Star Operation. They include: Mrs. Baldev Kaur Senior vice-president, Mrs. Piar Kaur, mother of Satwant Singh and Mrs. Kirpal Kaur, mother of Masiliat Singh both vice Presidents, Mrs. Rajinder Kaur, Mrs. Pritam Kaur and Mrs. Narinder Cheema are General Secretaries and Mrs. Kulwinder Kaur is the Organizing Secretary. Appointment of Advisory Committee include Mrs. Pritam Kaur, wife of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, wife of General Shuhbeg Singh and Mrs. Harjinder Kaur, wife of Mr. Mohkam Singh.
Mrs. Khalsa was nominated on the 13 member council announced by the High Priests to alternate Gen. Narinder Singh who is under detention. She sought permission of the High Priests to be relieved from this post to set up a new party. However Mr. Darshan) Singh clarified that she has asked to be relieved from the council as she wanted to form an organization of women from the families of Martyrs. Mr. Joga Sobha Singh was included in her place.
