ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has: appealed to all Muslim nations to support militants in Kashmir,
At a meeting with the special envoy of the Amir of Kuwait Mohammed Salman Sayeed Ali, Bhutto said it was imperative for the Muslim countries, to stand up and speak for the Kashmiris,
She said Pakistan would continue to extend “moral and political” support to the people of Kashmir in what she called “their fight for self-determination.”
However, Bhutto also reiterated that Pakistan would seek to resolve the Kashmir issue peacefully through negotiations on the basis of the Shimla agreement and in the spirit of UN resolutions.
The Pakistan government has already decided to send at least 10 delegations to over 40 Muslim countries to seek their support for Islamabad’s stand on Kashmir,
Bhutto has called all friendly countries to urge restraint on India which, she claims, has assumed a “threatening posture against Pakistan.”
India has repeatedly asked Pakistan to stop aiding and supporting secessionists in Jammu and Kashmir. The violence unleashed by Pakistan backed militants in the Indian state has claimed over 1,000 lives in past four months.
