KARACHI: Gunmen shot dead z leading member of ousted Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and six others in southern Sind, the police said here according to a delayed report.

The police said armed men blocked the road yesterday and opened fire on the car of Mr Nisar Ahmed Lund as he was returning from Sukkur to Jarwal, his native village, with six friends, killing everyone in the vehicle.

Mr Lund was a PPP candidate contesting from the town of Ghotki, near Sukkur, about 540 km north of here, for both a National Assembly seat and a seat in Sind’s Provincial Assembly.
