NEW DELHI (PTI): Six organizations representing the victims of the Bhopal gas disaster will testify before permanent peoples’ tribunal on industrial and environmental hazards and human rights soon in Bhopal in central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh bhopal.
Representatives of the Bhopal gas victims and workers afflicted with silicosis in a glass factory in Baroda, along with other groups victimized by industrial hazards in 12 Asian countries will testify on violation of their human rights before an international panel of 11 judges, in Bhopal from October 19-23.
The tribunal is being held eight years after one of the century’s worst industrial disasters in which leakage of lethal methyl isocyanate gas from union carbide’s pesticide factory in Bhopal claimed thousands of lives and caused health problems in the Survivors.
