GLENROCK, NJ: The bhog of Akhand Path held for Jaspreet Singh, the 17 year old boy who passed away at Carerat, N.J. was held on February 12 at the Sri Guru Singh Sabha here,
A large number of people attended the bhog and even on Saturday evening kirtan was done to pray for peace to the departed soul.
Jaspreet Singh was the son of S. Inderjit Singh and Bibi Inderjit Kaur, and at the kirtan on February 11, Inderjit Singh also sang shabads.
Others who performed the kirtan were Bhai Jiwan Singh, Dr. Manohar Singh Grewal, former president of the World Sikh Organization, Bhupinder Singh, the boys father Bhai Inderjit Singh and his grandfather Bhai Charanjit Singh Chani who is also the granthi of the Gurdwara sahib. At the bhog on February 12 a large number of children including Bhardeep Singh son of S. Ujagar Singh also performed kirtan as did the hazuri jath of Bhai Makhan Singh.
Dr. Satwant Kaur Dhamoon president of the Sikh Women’s International Organization spoke on the need of reaching out to young immigrant children and consoling them so that they could adjust better in the new circumstances.
- Tarlok Singh Sethi also addressed the congregation. He paid tributes to Jaspreet Singh and said that the parents should communicate more with children.
Jaspreet Singh had committed sucide after reportedly being unhappy his grades in school. He has a younger brother Jasmeet Singh 12, and a sister Jatinder Kaur.
