CHANDIGARH: Ram Pal Majra, president of the youth wing of the Samajwadi Janata Party, has criticized the Haryana Government for releasing an IPS officer, who had been convicted by the Supreme Court, two weeks before the completion of his sentence of imprisonment. Majra pointed out that the government had earlier rehabilitated another IPS officer, after his release from the prison. A third IPS officer involved in the case was getting VIP treatment.
Majra did not name the officers, but he was clearly referring to Anil Dawra, former SP of Hisar; Sham Lal Goel, former Additional SP of Hisar, and Rajinder Singh, former SHO of Hisar, who were convicted by the Supreme Court for filing a false affidavit in a case of illegal detention of a business rival of the Chief Minister’s son-in-law. Dawra has been rehabilitated after completing his imprisonment, Goel has been given a remission of two weeks for donating blood, while Rajinder Singh is passing time in a hospital. The youth SJP leader said the government’s treatment of all three officers showed the kind of elements it patronized.
