April 13, 1978: Nirarnkari Episode at Amritsar.

This day is considered a very significant day in recent Sikh history. Baisakhi day is a very important day in Punjab, [tis the day when the wheat crop is ready to be harvested and everybody is in a happy mood. On this day, the head of fake Nirankari mission, Gurbachan Singh, who enjoyed full support of the Indian government, had called a big gathering of his followers; This Nirankari mission was sponsored and nourished by the Jawahar Lal Nehru dynasty to divide the Sikhs. This group was known for its anti-Sikh activities throughout India.

Ina parade, the fake Nirankari Gurbachan Singh was riding on a chariot along with Guru Granth Sahib, the Holy Book of the Sikhs; He was sitting in a higher position than Guru Granth Sahib which was a great insult to the Holy Book. This was brought to the attention of Sant Jamail Singh Bhindranwalle who ordered that the parade be stopped; Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwalle immediately commissioned two bands (Jathas) to stop this insult of Guru Granth Sahib. One of the Jathas was led by Bhai Fauja Singh of Akhand Kirtani Jatha and the other was led by Bhai Darshan Singh of Bhindranwalle Jatha. These two jathas tried to stop the fake Nirankan’s parade, they did not have any guns or such weapons because they did not wish to do any act of violence, The Nirankaris attacked them with arrows, and guns. As a result 13 Sikhs of both jathas were martyred including Bhai Fauja Singh. This was done with the full knowledge and cooperation of the Indian government and the Punjab police. This incident was very painful for Bhai Sukhdev Singh Babbar and it occurred on the day of his wedding, He made a pledge to avenge the death of his dear friend Bhai Fauja Singh and other Sikhs. He left his home, got some guerrilla training and started to hit the fake Nirankaris wherever he could find them. Thereafter he eliminated almost all the fake Nirankari Leaders one by one.
