NEW DELHI: A group of leaders in the Delhi Congress opposed to party strongman H.K.L Bhagat have virtually called for his removal from the post of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president.
In a memorandum to party Chief Narasimha Rao recently the anti Bhagat leaders among them three former DPCC chiefs demanded that Rao take steps to dissolve the DPCC and appoint “an ad hoc broad-based committee of Congressmen of clean image and background.”
According to the leaders almost all senior Congressmen were being ignored and in their place “land grabbers property dealers and unauthorized builders and money manipulators have been inducted for personal benefits.”
They have gone to the extent of Stating that without the services of the “real Congressmen” the party will not win the elections to the Delhi assembly.
The memo framed after a hastily convened meeting of the leaders earlier in the day is a virtual indictment of Bhagat.
The memo said that in the back ground of the forthcoming assembly elections in the Capital they were “pained at the absolute defunct working of the DPCC elected at the behest of only one man H.K.L Bhagat.”
The signatories included S.C.Gupta Daleep Singh A.N.Chawla (all former DPCC Chiefs) Fateh Singh Bhiku Ram Jain (in whose house the leaders Met) J.P.Aggarwal H.SJosh Ram Lal G.P.Shastri Jagdish Anand RK.Kohli and R.S.Khanna
