VANCOUVER: With great piety and devotion, the birthday of Bhagat Ravidas ji was celebrated at gurdwara Khalsa Diwan Society Ross Sueet Vancouver on Sunday March 1, 1992. In his introductory speech Bhai Mohinder Singh Jawanda, Assit General Secretary Khalsa Diwan Society said “Bhagat Ravidas ji was a great ‘exponent for love, equality, good ‘deals and truthful living. He al ‘ways preached against caste system, baseless rituals, superstitions and meaningless customs.” Talking about the universal aspects ‘contained in the hymns of Bhagat Ravidas, Bhai Mohinder Singh said, “in his Bani (hymns) Bhagat Ravidas envisages the creation of an ideal state called “city of no sorrow” where there is no pain, no Brief and everybody lives in peace and prosperity.”

Bhai Sardool Singh Baghi, a prominent scholar and missionary from Bombay, also spoke about Bhagat Ravidasji, who lived before the advent of Guru Nanak, Principal Gian Singh Kothi a priest and Sikh missionary, missionary, speaking about the universal aspects of Sikhism, urged the house full congregation to make excessive efforts for preaching Sikh nets, Kirtani Jathas of Bhai Hargum Singh, Bhai Amar Singh, and Bhai ‘Amar Singh Dhaliwal Kholsa School Vancouver sang the kirtan.
