NEW DELHI: A court in New Delhi directed that Delhi Police should return the personal belongings of Beant Singh, the slain security man of Indira Gandhi, to his wife and newly elected MP, Bimla Khalsa.

The additional sessions judge, Usha Mehra, passed this order on an application by Bimla Kaur Khalsa.

The special prosecutor (special investigation team), S.P. Manocha told the court that since the second charge sheet in the Indira Gandhi assassination case had been withdrawn by the state against Simranjit Singh Mann and others, the personal belongings of Beant Singh were no more required by the state.

The articles belonging to Beant Singh include gold “Kara” (bangle) and a gold ring which were found by the police from the possession of Kehar Singh, executed for conspiracy to kill the former Prime Minister.

Manocha said the personal effects of Beant Singh were lying with “Malkhana” (strong room) of Tughlak road police nation.
