LUDHIANA (PTD): The Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh Oct.26 said he would soon invite the Akali leaders to an open debate to apprise the public of their “wrong policies” and their “support” to militancy so that they (Akalis) could come out with their explanation.

Addressing a religious congregation on the occasion of the Vishwakarma Puja at Doraha near here Beant Singh flayed the divided Akali leadership for demanding withdrawal of parliamentary forces from Punjab. Instead the chief minister called upon them to surrender their security guards and move about freely.

Beant Singh said the celebration of Diwali and Dussehra by the masses without any fear proved that normalcy was returning to the troubled state.

He said a congenial atmosphere had been created for an industrial revolution in Punjab. The state government had already announced several concessions to the industry he said adding those industrialists who were planning to migrate from Punjab had now abandoned their plan
