FREMONT: The Sikhs of Bay area hosted a dinner in honor of Mr. Leo McCarthy, Lt Governor of California state at a glittery function held at the palacious and beautiful decotated Fremont residence of Mrs. and Dr. Ajit Pal Singh Sandhu. About 250 distinguished Sikhs of northern California responded to their invitation. Cruz speaking on this occasion dealt with the Sikh problems and atrocities being committed by Govt of India against the Sikhs in Punjab. He also told the Lt Governor about the problems being faced by the Sikh immigrants in United States especially in the state of California.
- Mohinder Singh Mann an attorney from San Jose also told the Lt Governor about the human rights violations in Punjab by the Indian Govt against the Sikhs. He also outlined some more problems being faced by the Sikh community in California State and made an appeal to the Lt Governor for its redressal.
Dr. Narinder S. Kapani thanked the guest of honor and the other guests, who participated in this function. S. Balbir Singh Ragi was the master of ceremonies.
After the dinner some distinguished Sikh leaders headed by the host Dr. Ajitpal Singh Sandhu had a free and frank discussion with the Lt Governor about Punjab situation and other problems being faced by the Sikh community in California State. The Lt Governor assured the Sikh leaders that he will always be happy to extend a hand towards the Sikh community in every possible way.
