JULLUNDUR, Punjab, India: Former Chief Minister Punjab and President of Akali Dal (L) welcomed the unity moves of Bhai Jasbir Singh Jathedar of Akal Takht and other high priests, Barnala assured them of his party’s for his unity efforts. He expressed the hope that he would give a lead to the Panth which could bring it out from the present crisis.
While speaking at the convention of the backward classes wing of his party Barnala lashed out at the Unified Akali Dal leaders, including Parkash Singh Badal, for showing no response to his unity call. He said that even his call for the election of new leader has been ignored by them. This according to him only indicated that they were not interested.
