MADRASS: S Barnala who resigned as governor of Tamil Nadu Wednesday in protest against his transfer to Bihar Thursday said governors should not be transferred as it happened in his case and added that the constitutional provisions in this regard should be respected
A governor should not be transferred like this he told journalists at a farewell get together at the Madras airport before emplaning for New Delhi. A governor’s job was not transferrable he said.
Barnala said the government had asked him whether he was willing to go to Patna. I said no and resigned he said

Declining to comment on the centers decision to sack Bihar governor Mohammed Yun’s Salim Barnala said he did not have much time to follow the events as scores of visitors and well-wishers had been calling on him since Wednesday.
On his future plans Barnala said he would settle down in his native Barnala village in Punjab or in Chandigarh and strive his best to solve the Punjab problem.
When a reporter asked him whether he was feeling bad Barnala said there is no question of any bad feeling. Punjab is a national problem I had always tried to solve it and my services are always there.
Barnala said the country was passing through a difficult situation and a national effort was needed to solve the crisis. Every Indian who loves his country
