NEW DELHI: The general body of the Supreme Court Bar Association will consider on Tuesday a resolution moved by 150 of its advocates that the Chief Justice of India M.H.Kaula be called upon to “immediately withdraw judicial work as a sitting judge V.Ramaswamy in order to save the Supreme Court from public ridicule and dishonor.” The emergency meeting has been re anguish at the fact that Justice Ramaswamy is continuing to discharge judicial functions even after a charge sheet containing a many as 14 serious charges has been served upon him by the inquiry committee” under the Judges Inquiry Act. The inquiry committee consisting of Supreme Court Judge -B.Sawant Bombay High Court Chief Justice P.D.Desaiand former Apex court judge O.Chinnappa Reeddy has formulated the charge sheet on the basis of alleged misconduct by Justice Ramaswamy in dealing with the funds at his disposal while functioning as the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court. According to committee sources Justice Ramaswamy has declined the jurisdiction of the committee on him as a siting Supreme Court judge and has also challenged the individual moral and legal authority of all the three committee members to sit on such a committee.
