AMRITSAR: Bapu Tarlok Singh the senior vice president of the Akali Dal and father of one of Indira Gandhi’s assassins Bhai Satwant Singh was arrested near Batala on Monday for alleged links with Punjab militants.
Batala police chief Sita Ram told PTI on telephone that Bapu Tarlok Singh was carrying about Rs.100000 unaccounted money and letter pads of militants when he was arrested near his village Agwan on the Indo-Pakistan border.
Bapu Tarlok Singh was booked under Terrorists and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act and Arms Act.
The police chief said the Akali leader could not explain the source of the money he was allegedly carrying.
