NEW DELHI: Bansi Lal former chief minister of the north Indian state of Haryana who was expelled by the Congress-I for six years Wednesday alleged that this was done at the behest of his political arch rival Bhajan Lal (another ex-chief minister of Haryana) and predicted the complete rout of the Congress-I in the coming elections in Haryana.

Bansi Lal told reporters here that he did not plan to join any party.

Apparently unruffled by his expulsion Bansi Lal said he would continue to be a congressman like in the past 47 years and adhere to the principles and policies of the congress culture

Admitting that he had made a reference to the party president being irresponsible and childish recently in the light of the party’s stand on the surveillance issue Bansi Lal said this was nothing but ventilating views of a section of the partymen

Every party should be democratic enough to allow its members to give their opinion on certain matters he said adding that he did nothing which could be termed as anti-party activity. The decision to expel Bansi Lal was taken by the central disciplinary action committee of the AICC-I for deliberately acting in a way calculated to lower the prestige of the Congress-I. Bhajah Lal was not immediately available for comments on the expulsion of Bansi Lal.
