NEW DELHI (PTI): Federal finance minister Dr.Manmohan Singh has warned that Indian economy cannot be integrated with the world with a second rate banking and telecom system.
Dr.Singh said there has been a marked deterioration in customer service al nationalized banks over the years which could prove detrimental to the success of the nation’s economic policies.
He called on bank employees to emulate the success achieved by south East Asian nations in the field of banking.
He said trade unions have a key role to play in improving quality of service. The unions should recognize that banks exist not for the employees but to provide service to the people.
