DHAKA, Jan. 9, Reuter: Irate Moslems armed with sticks and stones broke up a communist meeting today killing one person and injuring several because the organizers refused to turn off loudspeakers during Friday prayers at a nearby Mosque, police said.
Witnesses said about 100 worshippers broke off prayers and attacked the Communist League of Bangladesh meeting hitting delegates and setting fire to a platform. Most of Bangladesh’s 100 million people are Moslem.
Police identified the dead man as a communist party member and said the Imam (head priest) of the mosque was among the injured.
