DHAKA: AL least 20 people were killed and thousands rendered homeless as flood situation in districts of north caster Bangladesh deteriorated following on rush of waters from upperriverian and heavy downpour press reports said on Monday.

The toll from the earlier cyclone could be more than 2 lakhs reports said.

The rising water levels of major rivers of Sylhet Commilla Habiganj and Netrokana districts inundated vast crop areas and destroyed thousands of mud-built houses the reports said.

Two were killed and over five lakh people affected in floods which engulfed 557 sq miles.
