An article in ‘Daily News,’ a daily Thai language newspaper caught my attention, Article was given by some unscrupulous and mischievous elements with the unprecedented intention of sowing the seed of division amongst the local Sikh community, The unfounded accusation and allegation was made to some particular gang which does not exist at all in Sikh society.

The local Sikh community mi grated here a century ago. Their life style is purely business oriented with regular participation in social as well as charitable affairs. ‘They are peace loving and certainly law binding. To date the Sikhs have one reasonable recognition from the government au theoretic. The article supplied is the result between personality clashes of the writer and the accused.

But what is more amazing is the undisciplined publisher who could allow such a detrimental issue to be published in measly circulated newspaper without checking filtering the news to the proper ex tent.

As a Sikh resident of Bangkok I feel it is my moral duty to rectify such wrongly expressed statements. My categorically condemning this statement is clearly evident from what I am writing, also I would like to appeal in general and/or particularly if he is a Sikh that he or she should not in the future write in such a way that could prove to be harmful for the Sikh religion and community.

The Sikhs are only a small minority in the world and also in Thailand, No such anti Sikh article has ever been published before in the history of Thailand. In case there are any differences amongst each other then the best solution is turn around and settle them amongst themselves rather than allowing any son of influence to exploit the situation and take undue advantage of this delicate situation and turn it in to a diverse and highly complicated affair.

I could also like to appeal to the elected Sikh authorities in Bangkok to openly criticize the writer and to categorically deny their backing for which the writer of that unwarranted article had tried to implicate the management committee. This would help to uplift their public image and will illuminate any pending doubts amongst the general public. Hardip Singh Shromani Babbar Akali Dal Thailand Branch.
