SRINAGAR,(PTI): Normal life was disrupted in Srinagar and the rest of the northern Indian Kashmir valley June 22 in response to a militant-sponsored Bandh while two persons were killed as army extended anti-militant operations in some more areas of the valley.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and transport was off the roads in response to a 36-hour strike call given by militants against the alleged “atrocities and excesses” of the security forces.
Educational institutions, semi government establishments post offices, banks and government run ration depots remained closed while attendance in government offices was thin.
Meanwhile, the body of a person identified as Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh was recovered from Akhal forests near Kangan on Srinagar Leg national highway Monday, official sources said.
An unidentified person was killed in an exchange of fire between militants and security forces at in the downtown city early Monday, the sources added.
