CHANDIGARH, India: The Punjab Chief Minister, Mr. Sunjit Singh Barnala, who had gone to Delhi to discuss the Akali demands with the Prime Minister retuned after a brief airport meeting with Rajiv Gandhi.
Mr. Barnala told newsmen that Prime Minister did not find time from his busy schedule to discuss the situation in the state. They had a brief meeting earlier today.
The Chief Minister said that he impressed upon the Prime Minister the urgent need to release innocent prisoners detained in Jodhpur jail and faithfully implement the RajivLongowal accord. The Chief Minister said that he might visit the capital again early next week to discuss the Punjab situation with the Prime Minister.
