PUNJAB: Two freedom fighters including Balwinder Singh alias Bitta area commander of the Khalistan Commando Force were gunned down in Punjab.
In an encounter CRPF men shot dead Balwinder Singh in the Mand area near Harike, He hada reward of Rs 50,000 on his head and was accused by D.I.G. Mohammad Ashzar Alam of being involved in 20 killings.
Security forces also shot dead a freedom fighter in Kapurthala district, The Fridkot police arrested three people identified as Gurdey Singh, Dhian Singh and Chandar Mani.
Eleven persons including two alleged Pakistani intruders, three freedom fighters, a Congress I leader, a Sarpanch, and three members of a family were gunned down and one person were injured since July 18, Rajinder Singh, who police claimed was allegedly involved in 30 killings, was shot dead in an alleged encounter by the security forces.
A police party was ambushed near Dhuliwala village in Ferozpur village by freedom fighters. Two policemen head constable Darbara Singh and Special Police Officer Nathu Singh, were killed.
