ALLEPPEY: Balwinder Singh of Punjab created a new national record by executing a total lift of 727.5 kg in the 82.5 kg class of the Senior National Powerlifting Championships here.
- Yashwant (Kar) and B. Sivatamalingam (TN) finished second and third in this category.
I the 75 kg category, Sudhakar Kamath (Kar) set a new national mark in deadlift, logging 282.5 kg. Shyam Sharma (P.and T) took the gold in this category with a total lift of 647.5 kg. While the silver went to Sudhakar Kamath. Indra jit Singh (Bih) claimed the bronze.
Rekha Mal of the Indian Power Lifting Federation won the gold in the 48 kg class for women with a total of 307.5 kg A.B. Manju (Kerala) finished second with 280 kg for the silver and Molly, also of Kerala took the third spot for the bronze.
In the 100 kg class for men, Raspa Singh (Punjab) with a total of 700 kg asserted his supremacy to win the gold. Rajesh Toora Kyute of Delhi took the silver and Ramesh K Kanchan of Maharashtra the bronze.
