NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana: On Sept.16, 1990, The Sikh community of New Orleans unanimously elected S. Balwant Singh as the president of Gurdwara Committee. Dr. Balminder Singh Mangat (Ex-President) voluntarily withdrew his nomination. Dr Mangat said “since we are nearly completing the construction of our Gurdwara Sahib, we need a Gurmukh like S.Balwant Singh as a president for this year.” Dedication of Dr.Mangat, during the construction of Gurdwara Sahib with both time and money, was highly appreciated by the Sikh Community of New Orleans.
The other dedicated members of the Gurdwara Committee are: Dr. Rajinder Singh Kakar (Vice President), Dr. Gurbachan Singh Rai (Treasurer), S.Baldev Singh Sangha (Mem. at Large), and S.Amolak Singh (Gen. Secretary).
