SANGRUR: Khabamana editor Sukhwinder Singh Phull was bailed out by the designate court judge Darbara Singh. Phull was detained by the Sangrur district authorities under the anti-terrorist law and bail under it is rarely allowed. The court held that the allegedly objectionable editorial written by the accused in no way incited the public or the militants what the editor had done was to caution the authorities and the public against the unexpected impending events.

NEW DELHI: The United States favors the settlement of the Kashmir problem under the Shimla accord and there is no upsurge in demand in the United Nations for recourse to the UN resolutions on the issue

Stating this here Monday U S permanent representative to U N Thomas Pickering emphasized that the UN was concemed with the problems of human rights violations as well as terrorism

Replying to questions at a press conference he said the U $ could consider a mediatory role only if approached by both the parties.
