CHANDIGARH: Sukhbir Singh the son of former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal is to set up a health resort with foreign collaboration in the Gurgaon district of Haryana.
The project, known as Orbit Health Resort will be set up in an area of 18 acres Le. 71,000 square meters.
The land has been allotted by the Haryana government. It is barely five kilometers from the New Delhi International Airport.
Informed sources said that land was allotted at the behest of Chief Minister Devi Lal who is a close friend of the Akali Dal leader. The project has also been approved by Haryana tourism.
The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 1.50 crores.
When questioned by newsmen Devi Lal said he saw nothing wrong in allotting the land to an agriculturist who wanted to diversify. He said land holdings were increasingly fragmented and farming was thus highly un remunerative profession from all aspects.
Sukhbir Singh is the only son of Parkash Singh Badal and he recently returned to India after completing his masters in business administration in a U.S. University.
