NEW DELHI: Akali leader Parkash Singh Badal cancelled his party’s scheduled rally at Delhi on October 12 in the wake of the hanging of Bhai Sukhdev Singh and Bhai Harjinder Singh, When Badal heard of the hanging program of the Indian government he rushed to meet his friends among Congress (1) men in Delhi to plead with them to put off the program. Several other Akali leaders, too, rushed to Delhi with writ petitions seeking relief from the Supreme Court but none obliged,
The chief justice told his guards to tell Akali leaders that he was not at home, All the Akali leaders felt greatly cheated as they returned to Punjab after spending sometime in Delhi.
