SANGRUR: The Punjab police scored a point when it demonstrated that it was not the villain of the piece in all matters. According to Gurdip Singh D.S.P. (D) Sangrur the police forced an Akali Dal (Badal) activist Baljit Singh Balli to return 1.5 lakh he had obtained from one of his own relatives for ensuring his release from the police. Balli allegedly got the money on the grounds that he had to hand it over to the police for seeking his relations release. Actually no such payment was made to the police and the person concerned was released in a routine manner. The police ensured that the Akali Dal leader returned the money to his relation in presence of a large number of people.
