PERTH, AUSTRALIA: West Indies on Friday started disastrously in a four day tour match against Western Australia, losing four wickets for 67 runs at lunch.

Left-arm pace-man Chris Matthews and seamer Terry Alderman rocked the West Indies’ top order, taking the wickets of Gordon Greenidge, Desmond Haynes and Richie Richardson in the space of 19 minutes,
Matthews struck again seven minutes before lunch, removing left-handed Keith Arthurton for five to claim his third victim.
At lunch the West Indies, without injuring tour captain Viv Richards, were relying on Carl Hooper, not out 18, and Jeff, who {sis yet to score, to pull them out of trouble.
Matthews was superb after eradicating some erratic bowling early in the innings. He started the rot by taking the first two wickets at a cost of seven runs in 11 deliveries.
Haynes and Greenridge put on 32 in an hour before Matthews struck in ‘the 15th over, Bowling Haynes for four with a full pitched delivery which swung in late,
Richardson was out for nine in the 17th ‘over when he pushed forward to Mathews, was struck on the pads and was adjudged LBW.
Greenridge, hampered by a groin strain, was out for 24 in the 18th over, clean bowled by Alderman,
Score West Indies 67 for four wickets.
